This is the personal residence of Hisashi Imai, founder of Sobokuya, built with his own
hands.

Its expansive interior, adorned with natural materials that capture the light,
features large custom-made wooden doors that open fully to the garden,
inviting the shifting beauty of the seasons gently indoors.
The curved taiko-beam staircase and handcrafted details throughout
carry the warmth of skilled artisanship.
In the kitchen, durable African moabi wood provides both strength and grace.
Selected timbers—black cherry, chestnut, and walnut—
add richness and texture to the space.
