ドバイデザインウィーク2025に日建設計とコラボ出展、現地法人 「素朴屋ドバイ」 を設立し海外事業を推進

　自然の理に学び、暮らしの風景を築いてきた素朴屋株式会社（山梨県北杜市／代表取締役：今井久志）は、2025年11月4日〜9日に開催される ドバイ デザインウィーク2025（DUBAI DESIGN WEEK2025）に出展し、同時に2025年11月、現地法人「素朴屋ドバイ（SOBOKUYA FZーLCC）」を設立いたします。

　ドバイデザインウィーク2025での出展は、世界的建築設計事務所 日建設計ドバイ（Nikken Sekkei FZ-LLC／Dubai ,UAE／CEO：ファディ・ジャブリ博士）との共同出展で、日本茶文化をモチーフとした空間インスタレーション 「Chatai（茶台）」 を披露します。「Chatai」は、日本の伝統を現代的かつ詩的に再解釈した集いの場。茶室の静謐さと屋台の賑わいを融合させ、人々がつながり、語り、思索を共有できる空間として設計されています。軽やかでありながらも日本美の本質を感じさせる、文化的感性に満ちた空間です。

Learning from Nature’s Principles to Shape Everyday Landscapes
SOBOKUYA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hokuto City, Yamanashi / CEO: Hisashi Imai), a company that has long embraced the wisdom of nature in creating architectural landscapes, will exhibit at Dubai Design Week 2025 from November 4–9, 2025. At the same time, SOBOKUYA will establish its local subsidiary “SOBOKUYA Dubai (SOBOKUYA FZ-LLC)” in November 2025.

SOBOKUYA’s participation in Dubai Design Week 2025 will be a collaborative exhibition with the global architecture firm Nikken Sekkei Dubai (Nikken Sekkei FZ-LLC / Dubai, UAE / CEO: Dr. Fadi Jabri). Together, they will present a spatial installation titled “Chatai (Tea Platform)”, inspired by the culture of Japanese tea.
“Chatai” reinterprets Japanese tradition in a contemporary and poetic way — a gathering place that blends the tranquility of the tea room with the vibrancy of the street stall. Designed as a space where people can connect, converse, and reflect, it expresses the essence of Japanese aesthetics through a light yet profoundly cultural atmosphere.

　ドバイ デザインウィーク（DUBAI DESIGN WEEK） は、中東地域最大のデザインフェスティバルであり、建築・アート・プロダクト・クラフトなど、あらゆる創造分野を横断する国際的なデザインイベントです。
毎年11月、ドバイの創造拠点 ドバイ・デザイン・ディストリクト（d3） を会場に開催され、世界各国からデザイナー、建築家、企業、学生が参加します。
会期中は、インスタレーション、展示、トーク、ワークショップ、マーケットプレイスなど多彩なプログラムが展開され、来場者は新しいデザイン体験や文化交流を通じて「デザインがつなぐコミュニティ」を体感することができます。本イベントは、UAE文化芸術庁（Dubai Culture & Arts Authority） などの後援のもと、地域と世界を結ぶプラットフォームとして、中東・北アフリカ（MENA）地域の創造産業を牽引しており、当社の認知拡大と大きなビジネスチャンスに寄与するものと捉えています。

Dubai Design Week is the largest design festival in the Middle East — an international event that spans across architecture, art, product design, and crafts, celebrating creativity in all its forms.

Held every November in the Dubai Design District (d3), the city’s creative hub, the festival brings together designers, architects, companies, and students from around the world. Throughout the week, visitors can experience a wide range of programs including installations, exhibitions, talks, workshops, and marketplaces, offering opportunities for new design encounters and cross-cultural exchange.

Supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and other cultural organizations, the event serves as a vital platform connecting regional and global creative industries. It plays a leading role in driving the creative economy of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

　本プロジェクトのデザインコンセプトは日建設計によるもので、共同制作者として素朴屋（日本）、Abjad Design（UAE）、パナソニック電工 UAE（照明サポート）、広島畳材（畳素材）、大日本印刷（DNP）（建材提供）が参加。会場では草月流の師範による生け花パフォーマンスも行われ、花と空間の対話を通して日本美の自由な表現と創造性を紹介します。Abjad Designによる展示「Poetry of Architecture（建築の詩）」では、伝統と現代が俳句のように響き合う日本美学の世界を体験できます。

構造の基本モジュールは5.6m立方の木組みフレーム。木と光、素材と影が織りなす空間の中で、訪れる人々は日本の おもてなし と自然への敬意を感じることができます。当社で原寸大のモックアップから始まり、木の仕口・継手の細部まで職人が手刻みで仕上げました。その後ドバイに輸送し、当社大工が現地入りしてブース建築をいたします。

Project Overview and Design Collaboration
The design concept of this project was developed by Nikken Sekkei, with collaborative contributions from SOBOKUYA (Japan), Abjad Design (UAE), Panasonic Electric Works UAE (lighting support), Hiroshima Tatami Materials (tatami materials), and Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) (building materials supply).

At the venue, there will also be a live ikebana performance by a Sogetsu school master, showcasing the expressive freedom and creativity of Japanese aesthetics through the dialogue between flowers and space. In the exhibition “Poetry of Architecture” curated by Abjad Design, visitors can experience a world of Japanese aesthetics where tradition and modernity resonate like verses of haiku.

The core structure is a 5.6-meter cubic wooden framework, where wood and light, material and shadow interplay to create a space that embodies the spirit of omotenashi (Japanese hospitality) and reverence for nature.
Starting from a full-scale mockup in Japan, SOBOKUYA’s craftsmen meticulously hand-carved each joint and connection using traditional techniques. After completion, the structure was shipped to Dubai, where the same carpenters traveled to reassemble and construct the installation on-site.

In Dubai, SOBOKUYA will take on new challenges across various architectural fields, with a focus on interior design and construction rooted in traditional Japanese wooden architecture. The company aims to evolve the globally popular Japandi style — which fuses Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi and appreciation for natural materials with Scandinavian functionality and design — by infusing it with SOBOKUYA’s own sense of simplicity (soboku), beauty of aging (keinen no aji), and warmth of craftsmanship (teshigoto no nukumori).

SOBOKUYA also plans to develop designs that incorporate local natural materials unique to each region, expanding its activities across Europe, South Asia, and Africa through a multi-base business model.
