土を踏み、風を感じ、陽のめぐりを確かめる。その場所に宿る気配を、静かに受けとめながら、私たちは、家が根を張る「風土の声」に耳を澄ませます。山の木に向かい合い、「今がそのときだ」と見極めて伐る。素朴屋の建築は、自然と語り合うことから始まります。

Entrusting

Trees, once felled, still hold the memory of the forest.To honor that, we don’t strip them bare. Instead, we entrust them to skilled sawyers,who reveal the strength and beauty within. The grain tells of the past. The heartwood holds the future. We offer a new home to this living presence.

木を見つめる。年輪にふれ、その重なりに耳を澄ます。山で育った一本の木が、どんな風に吹かれ、どんな光を浴びてきたのか。その記憶を、鑿や鉋でたぐり寄せる。墨を打ち、刻みを入れるその一手一手に、目には見えない自然との対話が息づいている。 手で刻むという行為は、木の声を聴き、応えること。私たちの手が繋いでいるのは、素材と人との関係、そして、過去から未来へと続く風景そのものです。

The Craft of SOBOKUYA
We gaze into the wood. Running our hands along its rings,we listen to the story it has carried through the forest. How the wind shaped it,how the light touched it—we draw out those quiet memories with chisels, planes, and other simple tools. Every ink mark, every cut we make, is a conversation with the unseen rhythm of nature. To carve by hand is to respond to the voice of the tree. What our hands connect is not only human and tool, but the bond between people and material—and the landscape that stretches from past to future.
